I used to have a cat who loved to sit on keyboards, so I set one of my old ones up on a stand above and behind my actual keyboard, and she would come up and hang out on it while I worked. I would often have a switch up there as well, and she’d rest her head on it, so I called her my netcat daemon. I miss her.

I have to do this with a warm shirt while folding laundry.

I assumed that cats did this because they wanted attention, not because they like sitting on laptops. Plus, the decoy laptop doesn’t have any parts that will get warm.

That cat has the look of betrayal. “Your hands are supposed to be here, not over there”
